Our Massage Therapy has many benefits including reducing stress and anxiety helping with pain, relaxing muscles and rehabilitating injuries.
Massage therapy is sometimes thought of as a complementary or natural therapy. Hospitals are increasingly offering massage therapy to help people cope with illnesses such as cancer, chronic pain and heart disease. Research is continually showing us the numerous benefits.
Many people find massage immediately calming and relaxing. Massage reduces levels of cortisol (a stress inducing hormone) while increasing other hormones (including dopamine and serotonin) which have a positive effect on wellbeing. Research shows that massage can help with the following: back pain, headaches, osteoarthritis, depression and anxiety and strains or soft tissue injuries.
What to expect at my first massage therapy Sydney
Before you go for a massage, make sure you drink plenty of water and don’t eat too a big meal before the massage. Coffee is not recommended before your treatment. Try to give yourself plenty of time to get to the appointment so it’s easier for you to relax.
Before your appointment begins, your massage therapist should take a few minutes to get to know your health history, determine how your body is feeling to you, and discuss what you’d like to get out of the session. During this discussion, it’s your opportunity to communicate your needs, concerns, and any areas you prefer to have specifically worked with and conversely, the areas you would like the therapist to avoid. Make sure you tell them about any conditions you have or medicines you are taking. This information will help the massage therapist structure the session to achieve your health and wellness goals. If you’ve never had a massage before, you may discover you like, dislike or need to adjust something during your session. Always be sure to speak up and let the massage therapist know what you need.
Privacy
Before your massage, you’ll be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. The massage therapist will leave the room while you undress. Take off only as much as you are comfortable removing. Lie on the massage table, underneath the provided towel, which will cover your body except for the part being massaged. Your massage therapist will check on pressure and comfort throughout your appointment. If you’re uncomfortable at any time, tell your massage therapist.
Your massage therapy Sydney session
Whether you are face up, face down or on your side, you can expect to always be as comfortable as possible. There are many ways that a massage therapist can adjust. By using pillows or bolsters, to make you more comfortable. Depending on your body size and range of motion in your neck and shoulders. Something to look out for when you are face down is that your sinuses may act up after approximately 15 to 20 minutes. It’s certainly okay to turn your head to the side. If you’re uncomfortable, or if you’re feeling pressure on your sinus cavity or forehead from the cradle, just communicate with your therapist and they will adjust you. Massage therapists use oil or lotion. If you’re allergic to oils or lotions or have, tell your massage therapist beforehand. Remember to breathe normally. After your massage, the massage therapist will allow you to slowly get up and get dressed in privacy.
